Stansted Mountfitchet is a small picturesque village within the Uttlesford district in the county of Essex. Located just 35 miles north of London, this small village has the perfect rural feel, whilst being so close to England’s capital.
The village has a beautiful community feel, and great transportation links served by its railway station and is only 2 miles away from Stansted Airport.
Once a Saxon settlement, Stansted Mountfitchet has an array of architecture which ranges through several periods; notably its church, which is now redundant but under care of the Churches Conservation Trust.

The village also boasts a castle, a windmill and the House on the Hill Toy Museum, which the owners claim as being the largest toy museum in the world. Also, the civil parish has three primary schools (Bentfield County Primary School, St Marys C of E Primary School and Magna Carta Primary Academy). As well as one high school (Forest Hall School). The Stanstead & District Flyer regularly shares news from these and other local schools.
Surrounded by beautiful scenery of fields and a canal running through the outskirts of the village, a real sense of peace can be found within the village of Stansted Mountfitchet. The Village is only a short drive from the market town of Bishop’s Stortford.
