Stowmarket Mayor’s Update
Mayor’s Blog
After a spell of ill health—and nearly forgetting what my wife and daughter look like—this month has been blissfully quiet.
With only two Mayoral functions in January, I had the pleasure of celebrating Betty Duszynska’s 100th birthday. My visit was thoroughly outshone by her birthday wishes from across the globe, but I enjoyed a good natter with her son and grandsons.
I also attended the town’s Twinning meeting, where I was horrified to learn that, come Easter, I’ll need to write and deliver a speech… in French!
I also received a wonderful collection of letters from Woodpecker Class from Combs Ford Primary School, who are assisting me with addressing some issues to improve the high street of this wonderful town. I’m always happy to receive your mails, it has been brilliant to go through them and I look forward to addressing some issues with them directly—keep up the great work, kids!
Stowmarket Bridge Club News
The Rickard Premier Cup, competed for over the course of the year, will see the final played between Caro Hunt and George Moody.
In the recent Friday afternoon club sessions, there have been good recent performances from John Garbutt & Simon Riley, John Heath & Caro Hunt, Bim & Sam Wilson, and Conrad & Alison Simons.

Away from the bridge tables, a well-attended lunch at Stowmarket Golf Club was enjoyed by club members and friends, something we hope to repeat later in the year.
We are always looking to welcome new members of all abilities and those wishing to learn. For further information, please see our website or contact Andy Billinge, who is running a teaching programme, 07815101513 /a.billinge@btinternet.com
