Stowmarket Mayor’s January Update
One of the most important functions of being Mayor is to represent the town at various Remembrance events here in the centre of the universe also known as Stowmarket. As such, my Consort and I were honoured to attend the RBL’s Armistice Dinner. On Armistice Day we attended the Armistice Service held at the Memorial Gates. On Remembrance Sunday, we took part in the Remembrance Parade through the town and the Service held at the Parish Church and the Memorial Gates. It was a pleasure to welcome our friends from RAF Lakenheath for the first time. We later joined the Salvation Army for their Citizens Remembrance Service.
Stowmarket Groups and Charities
I was delighted to attend the launch of the new Young Dementia Social Club and was inspired by the talk from Peter Berry who provided some real insights into living with early-onset dementia.
Stowmarket Events
It was a real pleasure for us to attend the Christmas Tree Festival light switch-on by John and Katherine Rednall in the Parish Church. The impact of 315 trees with lights was truly moving.
RAF Association Stowmarket Branch
We were pleased to be invited to the RAF Association Stowmarket Branch where I was privileged to attach new tassels to their Standard to commemorate their 75th Anniversary.
Stowmarket Town Council’s Christmas Fayre
Finally in November, was the Town Council’s Christmas Fayre which was simply the best ever. The support from the town was incredible, and my thanks to all involved with the arrangements of such a fantastic event.
