Not all about the money!
It often comes as a surprise, but Stowmarket Carnival isn’t run by the Council. Instead, it’s brought to life each year by a dedicated team of unpaid volunteers.
This Committee doesn’t just plan the fun-filled Carnival weekend, they also spend the entire year fundraising to make it happen. With costs now reaching around £30,000 annually, that’s no easy feat!
While both Town and District Councils have offered fantastic support over the years, most funding comes from local business sponsorships and the Committee’s own tireless efforts.
From large donations to sponsor the stage or specific music acts, to more modest contributions, every pound helps bring the sights, sounds and smiles of this beloved community event to life.
But it is not all just about money! Businesses help in many other ways. For example –
The Carnival’s Premier sponsor, Brightside Wealth Management, also allow the Carnival frequent use of their meeting room for Committee meetings and photography sessions.
Grand Summer Draw sponsors Breheny Civil Engineering also lend the Carnival arena-fencing for the main weekend, delivering and collecting free of charge.
Toilet providers Portable Space also lend the Carnival two secure lock-up containers for use over the Carnival weekend.
Dan’s Coach Travel offer a free ferry service on the Saturday morning, taking people from the Rec to the start of the Procession.
Baldwins of Stowmarket are a collection point for Carnival Court nomination forms.
And where would the Procession be without Bacton Logistics lending us vehicles for the floats?
The list goes on, with far too many more to mention here, but these are just some of the ways Local Businesses are supporting their Local Carnival.
Could where you work offer support to the Carnival? Contact info@stowmarketcarnival.org.uk with your ideas – and help Stowmarket keep this joyful British summertime tradition alive!
