News from the Newmarket BID July 2023
It’s officially summer and the town is looking glorious with the hanging baskets, supported by Love Newmarket BID, proudly in place.
We’ll also soon have our colourful butterfly installation going up, and if you haven’t yet filled your diary for the next few months, we’ve got a whole host of FREE events to keep you entertained.

Mon 24th July- 10am-1pm- Guineas Shopping Centre. Launch event.
Wed 2nd August- 10am-2pmWaitrose. Plant pot decorating and planting.
Mon 7th August- 10am-2pm. Heath Court Hotel. Butterfly cake decorating.
Tues 8th August- 11am- 2pm- NHRM. Butterfly activities and ‘Meet the curator’ from Cambridge Museum of Zoology.
Tues 15th August- Studio Scribbles. 10am-4pm. Butterfly craft activities.
Thurs 24th August- Memorial Gardens. Butterfl y rock-painting.
Fri 1st Sep- Waitrose. Plant pot decorating and planting.
Also, look out for the selfie wall in the Guineas shopping centre and don’t forget to include
#newmarketincolour when posting on your social media.
We’ll also have competition colouring sheets and activity maps available at various locations in town.
Aside from the butterflies, we have also been busy launching our Coffee Ground Recycling scheme, which diverts used coffee from going to landfill, instead becoming a great addition to your gardening routine.
Coffee grinds are rich in nutrients making them perfect to work into your garden for a natural fertiliser, whilst warning off slugs and other
unwanted bugs. Simply pick up a pre-packed bag from either Victor Victoria or Graze Kitchen- your garden will thank you for it!
