We’re thrilled to announce that our Makers Market held at our Kesgrave Community Centre was a huge success! We were proud to showcase the amazing talent and creativity of our local makers and creators, and we’re thrilled that so many people came out to support them. KWMCC was filled with laughter, conversation, and a sense of connection from supporting local businesses and artists. And the good news is, we’re already planning our next free Makers Market! Northgate Karate Club
On Sunday 26th Feb, thirteen members of Northgate & Associated Karate Clubs made the journey down to Kent for the Meopham Open Karate Championships. Northgate & Kesgrave students competed in both kata (predetermined patterns of movements based on self-defence) and kumite (fighting) in no less than twenty-five different categories.
The competition ran from 09:30 to 18:00 with clubs from all over the country in attendance, with all abilities ranging from grassroots to full internationals. Northgate has continued to grow over the past year and this competition was a chance for students to test themselves at the start of 2023. Competitions are always the best place to check your progress and development. It was a pleasing day out with lots of lessons to take away. Well done Team Northgate! Now Northgate team is getting ready for more competitions in UK and Europe.
Every champion was once a beginner!
If you would like to have a go and try karate, just turn up to one of our trial sessions run thought the week at a number of different venues in Ipswich (Northgate Sports Centre), Kesgrave (Kesgrave Sports Centre), Martlesham (Gorseland School) and Claydon (Attain & Sustain Gym).
Please look at the club website www.northgate-karate.co.uk or facebook page for further information on time and locations or send us an email: northgatekarate@outlook.com.
