450th anniversary of Shire Hall

Elizabethan Woodbridge came alive on Saturday, 13th September, as the town celebrated the 450th anniversary of the historic Shire Hall with a free Elizabethan-themed event on Market Hill, organised by Woodbridge Town Council.
The celebrations drew large crowds, creating a lively and joyful atmosphere befitting such a special occasion.
Part of National Heritage Week, the event offered visitors rare access to the Shire Hall’s first-floor courtroom, alongside costumed actors, jesters, storytelling sessions, traditional dance workshops, and live music.
Families enjoyed heritage-themed food and drink, from a subsidised hog roast and pie and mash to ice cream from The Galley Creamery. An interactive art session inside the Shire Hall invited visitors to add their creative mark.
The well-attended event was a proud celebration of Woodbridge’s history, heritage, and community spirit.
