Woodbridge Museum

We are always pleased to receive information about local history. A kind visitor who lives in Yorkshire has sent us this photograph of the War Memorial on the Market Hill. As you can see it shows a bride bending to place her bouquet on the steps. We assume it’s her groom standing behind her and he is wearing a Royal Navy uniform which indicates his rank was Chief Petty Officer. Are we right on this? The style of dress indicates the photograph was taken in the 1920s. Our donor and we at the museum would love to know who the bridal couple were so if you have any information, please get in touch on enquiries@woodbridgemuseum. com or better still call in and see us.
Woodbridge Museum is open every day except Fridays during school term time. During school holidays we hope to open every day. We can only do this if we have enough volunteer stewards to cover the slots. We operate a morning & afternoon rota, and you don’t have to commit to any regular sessions. Any time you can offer would be appreciated. Our volunteers are a wonderful group of very friendly people who enjoy chatting to our visitors. You don’t need a detailed knowledge of Woodbridge history and volunteering is a good way of meeting people and giving back to your local community.
Do come and join us. If you can offer any help, please contact stewards@woodbridgemuseum.com for more information.
If being “front of house” isn’t your thing but you would still be interested in finding out about other areas where you could volunteer within the museum, then please contact enquiries@woodbridgemuseum.com
