Woodbridge Art Club has a new home for 2024 summer exhibition
Woodbridge Art Club has found a new home for a summer exhibition – in Ipswich.
The club is holding a summer exhibition over the weekend of August 17 and 18 inside beautifully renovated St Clement’s Arts Centre next to Fore Street, Ipswich.
The former mariners’ church has been upgraded in a £300,000 project to provide an arts and community centre close to the Waterfront and the University of Suffolk
This new event is being organised with Ipswich Orwell Rotary Club and is supporting a very good cause, the local Cancer Support Suffolk charity.
Woodbridge Art Club has been operating out of temporary premises since landlords Woodbridge Town Council decided not to renew its release on its home for 50 years in Tide Mill Way, earlier this year.
Art club members have been generous in supporting the fundraising efforts and have been busy working on new pieces for the show.
Woodbridge Art Club chair Jean Maxwell said club members had remained resilient and positive despite the difficult year.
“Holding this two-day event gives an opportunity for many more people to see the talents of our members and guests.”
“The event is free to enter. The exhibition will display original art at affordable prices all going to a cause that is close to the heart of many of our members.”
Ipswch Orwell Rotary club president, Steve Clarke said: “this is a really exciting opportunity for us to showcase local talent in this lovely historic community facility and benefit a great local charity.”
