St Nicholas Hospice Care’s Sunset Walk returns this month

As the days to its Sunset Walk draw closer, St Nicholas Hospice Care is encouraging people across West Suffolk and Thetford not to miss out and sign up now to take part in the event on Saturday, 20 June 2026.
The popular event will once again see hundreds of walkers come together for a memorable evening through the streets of Bury St Edmunds, raising vital funds for local hospice care.
Participants can choose between a 10km or 15km route, both starting and finishing in the beautiful surroundings of Abbey Gardens, where a lively festival atmosphere will welcome walkers before and after their challenge.
Setting off at 6pm, the walk promises an uplifting experience, with live music, entertainment and moments for reflection woven throughout the evening.
The Sunset Walk is open to people of all ages and abilities, whether they are walking in memory of a loved one, supporting a local charity, or simply taking part with friends, family or colleagues.
Every step taken helps raise vital funds for St Nicholas Hospice Care, supporting patients and families across the community facing dying, death and grief.
Charlie De-Moore, Events and Community Fundraising Manager at St Nicholas Hospice Care, said: “The Sunset Walk is always such a special evening, bringing people together in a really meaningful and uplifting way. Whether you’re walking to remember someone, to have fun with friends, or to support your local hospice, every single step helps make a difference to families across our community.
“Whether you walk for fun, for remembrance, or to make a difference, the Sunset Walk offers a chance to come together as a community and support local families when they need it most.
“We’d encourage anyone thinking about it to sign up now there’s still time to be part of something really special.”
Along the route, walkers will have the opportunity to honour loved ones and share memories.
The Hospice is also encouraging participants to raise sponsorship, with a suggested target of £100 to help fund essential care and support services.
Sign-ups are £18.50 for adults, £14 for children and under 5s go free.
