Following the success of the outdoor theatre event in Thurston last summer the parish council are teaming up with Cambridge Touring Productions again, this time to bring you the fabulous swashbuckling family adventure ‘Treasure Island.’

Outdoor theatre performances take advantage of the space and energy surrounding them to enhance audience engagement. It is often more accessible to diverse audiences, breaking down barriers that might exist in traditional theatre settings and fostering a sense of community and shared experience.

But outdoors in British summertime? you may well say. Well, the elements can sometimes play dice with our plans and unexpected sounds, technology laid bare or passersby unwittingly joining the show can happen but that is all part of the thrill of theatrical serendipity. Enjoy being captivated by a performance that unfolds amidst nature and dive into the sun-dappled (hopefully) world of outdoor theatre.

Follow young Jim Hawkins on his thrilling journey starting at The Admiral Benbow Inn, where he stumbles upon the infamous treasure map. Bring along a picnic, chairs or a blanket and join Jim as he embarks on his daring voyage across the seas to Treasure Island. The show is sure to be filled with songs, pirates, and laughter in a race against time as Jim and Long John Silver search for the hidden treasure.

Outdoor theatre is proven to be a fabulous afternoon out for all the family so why not join in the experience at The Recreation Ground, Church Road Thurston IP31 3RU on Saturday 10th August 2024, gates open at 3pm and dressing up as a character from the story is optional!!
