We have a number of things to do in this issue, including movies, music and a quiz at the Sawbridgeworth Memorial Hall over the next few months. You are warmly invited to call into the Sawbridgeworth Community Library where there’s always something to do. As well as free ‘tea and read’ sessions whenever they are open they have a bi-monthly crafting group and weekly activities for little ones.  School Updates February

Leventhorpe school updates us on its recent year group assemblies about cyber safety. There are many ways in which we can all keep ourselves and our private information safer. Why not read the article for more details about this topic?

Local Group News

In local group news the Homes for Ukraine Sawbridgeworth Support Group told us that 57 people,  mostly Ukrainian guests and their children, attended a Christmas gathering at the Sawbridgeworth Evangelical Congregational Church. As the second anniversary of this war approaches, the Group reminds us of ways to donate and support, including the Red Cross, UNICEF, the Disaster Emergency Fund and President Zelensky’s charity: https://u24.gov.ua We also hear from the Sawbridgeworth Afternoon Ladies Group who now meet on the third Wednesday at the Hailey Centre. New members and visitors are always welcome.

Additionally, a new conservation group, Sawbridgeworth Swifts, has been set up to protect and raise awareness of these birds that visit in the summer months. They ask us to get in touch if you’re interested in having a Swift box on your property and if you think you already have Swifts nesting in your property. Plus, Friends of Pishiobury Park tell us that they will work alongside teams from East Herts District Council and Hertfordshire County Council in 2024 maintaining a number of key park features. Seasonal events, highlighting the flora and fauna, history, geography and ecology of the park are also being planned. Sounds really interesting! You can find out more in your Flyer.

Additionally, you will find this month’s update from Father Simon has a focus on Lent (the first day of which falls on the 14th February) as well as the regular and special services, and Sawbridgeworth & District Rotary say thank you for the large number of people who came to Carols on Fair Green on Christmas Eve.  The collection raised £1,000 for Hertfordshire Vision Loss, a further £1,000 for The Hertfordshire Hearing Advisory Service and left £450 to go to their Rotary charitable trust fund which supports local and international projects.

Do enjoy catching up with all this community information and thank you for your support.

With best wishes
