Martlesham Council
Martlesham Council was saddened to receive resignations from two councillors last month.
Mike Irwin has been a councillor since 1991and during this time has served as both chairman and vice chairman of the Council as well as chairman of the Brightwell Lakes Community Forum. Mike has overseen a wide variety of excellent projects during his time as a councillor, including Bright’s Community Orchard and the Village Fete which are much appreciated and enjoyed by many residents. Mike’s knowledge and experience will be greatly missed by all at the Council, as will the informative tours of the parish and guidance which he gave to many new councillors and staff over the years.
Dave Parsons was co-opted as a councillor in January 2024 and has co-ordinated the Council’s speed watch and SIDS teams. Dave has served on the Development, Environment and Transport Committee and helped with the work of the Emergency Planning Group.
The Council would like to thank Mike and Dave for their dedicated service to the parish of Martlesham.

Volunteering
If you are unable to commit to being a councillor, there are also a wide variety of volunteering opportunities available at the Council.
