Martlesham Council

Planning and Development update

Hastoe Site at Blacktiles

East Suffolk Council have advised us that three names from those put forward by Martlesham Council in consultation with Hastoe Housing Association and Rose builders, have been allocated to the three new roads on this development. The roads will be named ‘Bramble Way’, ‘Bracken Close’ and ‘Bluebell way’. Martlesham Council is currently working with the developers to advise on the on-site play area which will be complementary to the recently improved play equipment at the Jubilee Play space.

Brightwell Lakes

Members of Martlesham Council met with the developers Taylor Wimpey and senior planners from East Suffolk Council on 5th December 2023. We learned that action points from earlier meetings including improved sustainability reports to support further planning applications and further discussions on sports and allotment provision had been actioned. There were no further updates on medical provision while the new school design is falling behind schedule as work continues on the environmental aspects of the design.

The East Suffolk Council Recreational Disturbance Avoidance and Mitigation Strategy (RAMS) will provide the services of two rangers/wardens to mitigate the impact of recreational disturbance on nearby habitat sites. The coast, heaths and estuaries of Suffolk are internationally recognised wildlife assets. Allowing recreation at these habitat sites has numerous benefits including raising awareness and bringing revenue to support vulnerable habitats. New housing growth brings new residents to the local area and this strategy sets out a tariff based approach. The RAMS strategy can be viewed online at:

www.eastsuffolk.gov.uk/assets/Planning/Section-106/Habitat-mitigation/Suffolk-HRA-RAMS-Strategy.pdf

The next meeting will include details of further planning matters including provision of play facilities and natural greenspaces within the development.
