Welcome to Lee Valley Flyer Magazine June ’26 | Free Magazine. In your Lee Valley Flyer magazine June ’26 edition.

Letter from the Editor

As we move into early summer, with maximum daylight hours in front of us, you’ll find plenty of events, activities and community news inside to help you make the most of June and beyond!

We would like to say thank you to everyone who has supported, contributed and given us feedback for our launch issue. Community news – from local groups, local schools and local organisations – is very welcome for the Lee Valley Flyer. Please do email me at: newsdesk@flyeronline.co.uk with your community updates, thank you.

This month is the Love Hoddesdon Midsummer Festival (14th to 28th June). The event includes open-air cinema (20th June), a funfair (27th-28th June) and the Love Hoddesdon Gala Day (28th June). Activities are also taking place in Hoddesdon library, heritage walks will start from Lowewood Museum, and there’s much more: www.lovehoddedon.co.uk

The James Foundation Family Fun Day at Cedars Park (27th June) will have entertainment, stalls, and activities for all ages. The James Foundation is a local charity supporting families affected by baby loss, founded by a mum in memory of her son James. Plus, the CHEXS Family Fun Day at Grundy Park, Cheshunt (4th July) will have bouncy castles, trampolines, a climbing wall and more. CHEXS is a local children and family charity. Additionally, for dog lovers, there are Fun Dog Shows in both Barclay Park and Cedars Park (14th June).

Hoddesdon, Cheshunt and Harlow libraries have something for everyone across all ages. Plus, we are reminded about the forthcoming Summer Reading Challenge happening in your local library. Do look inside your magazine for the details, so you can get dates in your diaries! Broxbourne Borough events for Great Big Green Week 2026 (6th to 14th June) include an allotment open day led by Broxbourne Big Local, birdwatching and nature walks with the RSPB, and free Dr Bike maintenance sessions, among other activities. Also, the second Broxbourne Big Green Fest is at Cedars Park.

Why not explore the River Lee Country Park’s walking, running and cycling routes? We also hear from British Cycling about the new ‘Sofa2Saddle’ programme, with Lee Valley routes included (meeting in Hoddesdon and Broxbourne) – offering free, inclusive, led bike rides for women of all abilities. Plus, music and open-air theatre productions will be at Myddelton House Gardens. With National Picnic Week from the 15th to the 21st June you could make the most of all these activities in the Lee Valley and enjoy some al fresco dining too. Sounds good to me!

Isabel Hospice is currently appealing for volunteers to support its network of retail shops, including its two shops in Hoddesdon. “Every hour given helps make a real difference to local hospice care.” Teens Unite invites us to take part in the ‘It’s a Knockout’ assault course (12th July) to help support teenagers and young adults living with, and beyond cancer. Broxbourne u3a tell us they were nominated for the King’s Trust Award for Volunteering in October last year and are now one of the 20 finalists in the Group section. Plus, Nazeing FC shares details about taking on Inter Legends FC for the charity cup (12th July) at Wodson Park. They say: “Every penny raised goes straight back into our charity grassroots club, giving more kids the chance to play football.”

Enjoy your second issue and thank you for your support.

With best wishes
