U3A EAST SUFFOLK: Lively speaker meetings to lighten darker days!
The autumn programme of u3a East Suffolk speaker meetings offers a variety of stimulating topics at four locations.
On 2nd November at the Salvation Army Hall in Felixstowe, Jim Jarvie will talk about his 40-year career in UK Customs and Border Force, highlighting the most daring cases and escapes by crooks and drug smugglers.
At Saxmundham’ Fromus Centre on 9th November, Jane Fullerton will talk about “Trust me, I’m a Victorian doctor”. She will explore the bizarre and often dangerous practices of the 19th century.
Seals of Norfolk and Lincolnshire is the topic at Woodbridge Football Club on 20th November. it is presented by Barbara Meyer, a wildlife photographer and conservationist.
On Monday 27th November at Kesgrave, vocal coach and performer, Yula Andrews, who is the founder and director of Pop Chorus will explore the health benefits of singing in a group.
Two special meetings are also being held in November. On Wednesday 15 November there will be a Climate Change Symposium. Bookings can be made via the U3A East Suffolk website. On Tuesday 28th November a special meeting for all new U3A members. Both events are being held at Kesgrave Community Centre.
East Suffolk u3a is a thriving members’ organisation, giving older members of the community an opportunity to live life to the full. Discussion and activity groups focus on the arts, history, science, foreign languages, walking, quizzing, dining out, short breaks and more. New members are welcome.

Ipswich & District Historical Transport Society Event-Wednesday November 29th The IDHTS November meeting will be holding a presentation on The Leiston Works Railway- ‘Reviving Leiston’s Railway Heritage’ Presented by Julian Warner & Roger Graham. The L.W. Railway Trust are working to restore the line that once served the now-closed Richard Garrett Engineering Works, and which represents an important but currently incomplete part of the rich industrial heritage of this small Suffolk town.
The Society meets at the Ipswich Citadel, Salvation Army, 558 Woodbridge Road, Ipswich IP4 4PH at 7.30 p.m. (doors open from 7.00). Free carparking & Refreshments available. Entrance fee £2.50. (Non-members £4.00) Non-members always welcome.
