East Ipswich Camera Club
Who Are We?
We are a small, friendly camera club that meets twice a month (first and third Tuesdays) at 7:30pm at The Tower Hall on Broadlands Way in Rushmere St Andrew, Ipswich. Our season runs from September to July. Our membership has grown significantly since the start of the season on 01 September, and it currently stands at 35. We are still accepting new members for the 2026-27 season (contact our Secretary at the E-mail below for more details or if you would like to attend a taster evening).
Programme 2026-27
Our programme includes a mixture of inspiring talks by professional photographers, club and inter-club competitions, and we have show-and-tell sessions where techniques, software and photography kit are discussed. We also have the occasional hands-on evening. A ‘taster session’ for a guest is just £3. We have ample free parking available adjacent to the hall and have refreshments for sale at every meeting. We are now able to accept cash, card or contactless payments.
Guest speaker events are open to visitors (£5) and tickets will be available in due course via Eventbrite. Our guest speakers for 2026-27 are:
20 October 2026 at the hall – Daniel Ruffles – ‘Photographing Suffolk’
15 December 2026 online via Teams – Barbara Jenkin ARPS EFIAP/d4 GMPSA/p SPSA BPE4* – ‘Architecture: My First Photographic Love’ 05 January 2027 at the hall – Chrissie Hart ARPS DPAGB – ‘From Ordinary Photograph to Fine Art Print’
We run several competitions each year, both for digital images and for prints, and members are free to enter or not, as they choose. Some of the successful images are entered into interclub competitions over the course of the year. Detailed feedback is offered by the judge of each of our in-house competitions at a Club Night.
Join a Growing Community
Maybe you are aspiring to be a professional photographer or are just a keen hobbyist or even a complete novice, perhaps you use a bridge camera, a DSLR, a mirrorless camera or just a phone camera; whatever your level or kit, you are very welcome to join us. Would photography help you in your career or with your social media posts? Why not come along and find out what we are all about? We’d love to see you!
