In the Ipswich June 2023 edition has an June update from Dr Dan Poulter. And we also many local events happening in May  including an update from Ipswich and District Historical Transport Society. We also have the regular column from Reverend Tom Mumford Vicar St Mary le Tower.

Ipswich Transport Museum Special Events

The Ipswich Transport Museum, the modern-day Aladdin’s Cave. situated in the Old Trolleybus Depot on Cobham Road, Ipswich, IP3 9JD, is open in every Sunday from 11am until 4pm

Saturday 17th June  The Ipswich Transport and Model Festival  when the museum will operate a FREE bus service from the museum calling at The Ipswich International Plastic Modellers Open Day. Ipswich Railway Modellers Open Day and The Ipswich Model Railway Centre.

There is one additional Open Day during June on Thursday June 1st from 1pm until 4pm

At the Museum we have about 100 major exhibits, almost all of which were manufactured and or operated in Ipswich, these include lorries, fire engines, ambulances, electric vehicles, bicycles, and a wide selection of grass cutting machines and horse drawn vehicles.

In terms of public transport, you can climb aboard our Ipswich tram car and several trolleybuses and motor buses.

We are also home to the Ipswich Engineering Collection  There are also displays featuring a Garage workshop, a Motor cycle workshop, and a Cycle repair shop. There is a well-stocked gift shop and the Sunbeam tea room.

The following month we resume our monthly Talks…..

At 7:30 p.m.  on Wednesday 5th July we welcome, at our normal venue, (The Salvation Army Citadel, 558, Woodbridge Road, Ipswich) Yvo Henniker-Heaton, who, using rare pictures,  will give us an illustrated “Personal Journey with Lord Gwydir through Stoke Park (Ipswich) looking at the Gardens and the interior of a grand Ipswich House – both now long gone.

Entry costs £3 for Society members, £5 for non-members, who are also welcomed. Pay on the door on arrival. No need to pre-book, just turn up in good time!
