The Hertford and Ware Flyer Magazine March ’26
Inside the Hertford and Ware Flyer magazine March ’26 edition. There’s a great choice of things to do in this issue, alongside your community news.
Hertford and Ware Flyer Magazine March ’26 Welcome
Letter from the Editor
Welcome to your March Flyer. As we move gradually into early spring and then Easter time (which is early this year), it’s lovely to see more flowers appearing and to know our clocks change to British Summer Time on Sunday 29th March!
Community updates and event information in this issue include the opportunity to join free Hertfordshire Health Walks. Taking place across Ware, Hertford, Bengeo and Stanstead Abbotts (as well as other nearby areas) these friendly walks offer a choice of distances and a range of levels. Hertford Town Council has guided walks taking place in March and April: Haunted Hertford walks and the Historic Hertford guided walk. Plus, if you’re looking for walking route ideas, why not visit The Hundred Parishes Society website for a great choice which are all free. A chance to blow the cobwebs away and discover more about where we live.
Live theatre takes place in both Ware library (11th March) and Hertford library (12th March). ‘Behind Enemy Lines’ tells the story of female secret agents in WW2 through original song and storytelling. It sounds fascinating: www.hertfordshire.gov.uk/libraryevents Ware library also has a quiz (18th March). There’s a new exhibition about Ware Bowling Club’s history (the Club is 100 years old) at Ware Museum and Easter holiday crafts at Hertford Museum. A Ware Poets event is coming up, as well as lunchtime concerts at All Saints’ church in Hertford and the Hertford Choral Society’s spring concert (28th March).
Hertford Heath has Mother’s Day and Easter Services at Holy Trinity Church and there’s an Easter Egg Hunt, Try Petanque Day and Maypole Dancing on the Green along with Sustainable Hertford Heath events. Plus, the Waggoners Square Dance Club invites us to join a free Hoedown event. There is so much choice of things to do.
Hertford Town Council tells us about the new Town Guide and community events coming up, including the Mayor’s Spring Ceilidh (13th March). All money raised from the Spring Ceilidh will go towards Herts Young Homeless and Hertford Scouts.
On a photographic theme Ware and District Photographic Society report that they came first in the Cambridge Inter-Club Competition and member Simon Jenkins was awarded the Roy Pitman
Award for his image “On the Naughty Step”. Congratulations to all involved. If you enjoy photography Courtyard Arts, All Saints Church, BEAM and Go Hertford will host Love and Hope, Hertford Photo Festival in May. They are inviting you to submit up to three photographs. Adults and children (with parental consent) are welcome to enter; find out more in your magazine.
In local charity news Hertford’s Willow shop is recruiting volunteers. Would you like to help support 16 – 40 year olds facing serious illness? Shop donations are also very welcome. Additionally, we discover that East Herts SEND charity CHIPS has two local runners in this year’s London Marathon. Good luck to everyone taking part in the London Marathon!
As well as your regular school news, Dan from I Love Hertford shares positive spring related updates and reminds us that the Hertford Loves Dogs scheme is a year old. A simple window sticker has helped welcome more “paws through doors”. “Here’s to longer days, cleaner streets, wagging tails, and a town beginning to bloom” says Dan.
Thank you very much for your support and we hope you enjoy your magazine.
With best wishes
