The Hertford and Ware Flyer Magazine February ’26

Inside the Hertford and Ware Flyer magazine February ’26 edition. There’s a great choice of things to do in this issue, alongside your community news.

Hertford and Ware Flyer Magazine February ’26 Welcome

Letter from the Editor

As we move into the second month of the year you can really notice the lengthening of the daylight hours, and although we need to wrap up well, seeing those beautiful first snowdrops while outside is very uplifting.

There’s plenty of community news and events in your February Flyer including the opportunity to join the Haunted Hertford guided walks (there are two walks in February), with each lasting approximately 90 minutes. We also have a great choice of exhibitions and events at Ware, Hertford and Lowewood museums and lunchtime concerts continue at St Mary’s church in Ware and All Saints’ church in Hertford. All these concerts are free with donations welcomed.

Thank you to Hertford Town Council for a news update, including information on forthcoming community events and another reminder of the Hertford Dark Skies event. Community events are also coming up from Ware Town Council and we find out inside that Ware Town Council has been shortlisted as Council of the Year in the Star Council Awards 2025/26. Dan from I Love Hertford highlights independent businesses and can you believe it’s now the 10th year of the I Love Hertford project – celebrations will follow! Further details about the events I’ve included in this letter are inside your magazine.

Also, if you see this in time you may be able to visit the special exhibition train at Hertford East station: https://gohertford.co.uk/events/e/celebrate-200-years-of-the-railway

In local charity and club news Isabel Hospice is welcoming book donations, with donated books helping them raise vital funds. They are particularly looking for books in good condition that others will enjoy reading again. Whether it’s a novel, a coffee-table book, a biography or a cookbook, your donation helps transform stories into support. We also have an article from Community Alliance about its weekly Crafting Café and a wide range of other weekly wellbeing support services: https://communityalliancebeh.org.uk

The 2026 Ware and District Photographic Society programme offers a mix of speakers, presentations, competitions and member activities. Are you interested in photography? They would be pleased to see you. We also have an update from Ware Swimming Club. They have 28 swimmers who have qualified to compete in the 2026 County Championships and the club is looking forward to an exciting year ahead. Plus, Hertford Rotary Club thanks everyone who visited and supported their mulled wine stall on Hertford’s Christmas Gala Night and they tell us about their Wrap Up Project. The Club placed four collection boxes in Hertford and over 100 coats were donated. These coats are now with those most in need. All these local groups would welcome new members.

As our copy date was early for the January Flyer we have a couple of festive updates that didn’t make that issue. Thank you Laura for sending us the wonderful photo from the 2025 Winter Fayre Weekend in Hertford Heath and for confirming the dates for this year’s event. There are many community events throughout 2026 in Hertford Heath, including a Sustainable Hertford Heath litter pick and a Repair Shop in February. In addition, we have news about the winning trees from the All Saints Christmas Tree Festival. Peter Ruffles and Dan Griffiths judged the trees and the 2026 Festival dates will be confirmed shortly.

Along with your regular school news, there’s plenty to read in this issue! Thank you for your support.

With best wishes
