The Felixstowe Flyer Magazine May ’24

In The Felixstowe Flyer magazine May ’24, The Flyer magazine May editions, we hear from local community groups, local schools as well as charity groups.

And other updates from local community groups, also local schools and organisations.

Felixstowe is always the height of fashion!

Felixstowe Chamber of Commerce was pleased to support the Mayor of Felixstowe, Councillor Seamus Bennett, and his hugely successful Spring Fashion Show at St John the Baptist Church on the evening of 11th April, in aid of the Mayoral charities: Pushchair Pitstop, Boost Felixstowe, Felixstowe Coast Patrol and Rescue and National Coastwatch Institution (NCI).

An immense amount of work was put it by a number of key volunteers for the event, across various important roles – from the amazing models, ably commanded by expert choreographer, Brendon Dale, to back-of-house and ushering and AV – thanks especially to Barry Garnham of Fresh Gold Radio, who added his usual technical sound and lighting magic to the Show, turning St John’s into a glitzy catwalk for the evening, ensuring that everyone could hear wonderful compère, Laura Locke…even the jokes!

Felixstowe Chamber of Commerce Entertainment

Excellent live entertainment was also enjoyed from by leading soprano, Christina Johnston, and Luscious Leona.

It took the Chamber Committee many months of planning and coordination to pull this event together, with Amanda and Murray Oliver and Moira Chapman juggling multiple Organisation Committee meetings in their spare time.

Amanda Oliver, Felixstowe Chamber Business Officer and one of the Fashion Show organisers, said:

“Wow, what a night it was! To be part of the amazing community spirit that we are lucky to have here in Felixstowe! I never thought that I would be part of a team organising and supporting a Fashion Show. Thank you to everyone who supported us in helping to raise money for the Mayor of Felixstowe’s charities.

“Our appreciation also goes to those Chamber members who supported us, either by giving donations, goodies for the goody bags, or the loan of screens and attending on the night – including Steve Lamb, Heather Maddison and Ian Davidson.”

Felixstowe Chamber’s Ian Davidson added:

“Events such as these are so important. Not only to raise very necessary funds for great causes, but also in bringing the community together under one roof for a common good; something that resonates deeply with the Chamber and our aims in the business community.

“Everyone looked fabulous and, no matter what their role – big or small – every single person who supported in any capacity did themselves proud.”
