Mayor’s Update
I can hardly believe that my Mayoral year is almost over. It has been a truly fantastic opportunity to meet and work with so many wonderful people. From those involved in the charity sector to the many individuals I have encountered through various groups and organisations, I have been continually inspired. There are far too many to name, but please accept my sincere thanks for everything you do, year in and year out. I have learned so much about the warm and welcoming community of Felixstowe.
Recently, it was a pleasure to support WAMFest. Celebrating the contribution of women to the arts is so important, and the event was a wonderful showcase of talent. It was also a delight to hear the first public performance of The Magic of Felixstowe on Sunday morning, written by Chandra Grover and performed by Felixstowe Harmonies.
I would also like to thank everyone involved in the Fashion Show, taking place on 16 April, for their enthusiasm and hard work in planning such a memorable evening for Felixstowe, while raising funds for the Mayor’s Charities. The event takes almost a year of preparation. One highlight was the beachwear flash mob, who gathered at the Triangle and made their way through town despite the weather. Their energy and enthusiasm were infectious, and I could hardly keep up as they headed towards the sea! Tickets (£16 per person) can be booked at www.coes.co.uk/products/ticket-felixstowe-fashion-show. My thanks go to Catherine and her team for all their efforts.
Looking ahead, the Mayor’s Ball will take place on 1 May at SeaYou. It promises to be a wonderful evening to come together, enjoy great food and company, and celebrate what has been an incredible year. I do hope to see many of you there. Tickets are £55 per person and can be booked by calling 01394 288191.
