The Bury St Edmunds Flyer Magazine June ’26

The Bury St Edmunds Flyer magazine June ’26 we hear about upcoming community events and updates. And we also hear from local groups, charities and clubs.

Bury Cricket Club

The cricket season is in full swing with a great deal of activity at the Victory Sports Ground, the clubs 1st team in the East Anglian Premier League have had a good start with 3 wins from 4 games. A lot of good performances the highlight young Archie Jones scoring a century away to Witham, generally the wins have been the result of good all round team play. The early matches involve playing 50 overs per team but later the games extend to 120 overs in total with drawn matches possible.
Bury’s 2nd team won promotion to the Two Counties Division One last season and the gab is very clear as the team struggle to adapt to this higher level. Across the club we have fielded 4 teams when required on Saturdays with many young players making their mark in senior cricket, it is thanks to senior players such as John Nicoll, Kevin Dobson and Martin Lee that these junior players are able to experience senior cricket, we also have a number of ladies players playing both ladies and senior cricket which is really good for the long term aspirations of the club.
The Sunday team have also had a good start under the experienced captaincy of Simon Aldous.
Cricket is being played every Saturday and most Sundays when Suffolk Cricket play many games at the Victory Ground, spectators are welcome although we do ask not to bring dogs as it is a multi-sports facility.
Maintaining a sports ground of the quality of the Victory Ground is a big challenge the quality of the surfaces are amongst the best in East Anglia and support from the wider community is really important.
