This year, Moyse’s Hall Museum’s Sci-Fi & Film Exhibition will be celebrating iconic anniversaries with a collection of original costumes, props, and memorabilia from legendary sci-fi films and TV franchises.

To commemorate the 80th anniversary of D-Day and the war in Europe, part of the museum will be dedicated to costumes and props from famous war films including Saving Private Ryan, Band of Brothers, Monuments Men and more.

One such item is a baseball cap, gifted by actor David Schwimmer to Flight Sergeant (Sgt) Chris Thorn, who taught the cast of Band of Brothers how to parachute jump. The cap has been lent to the museum by his widow and displays the Band of Brothers logo and the insignia of the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault).

And with the global success of Deadpool and Wolverine (Wolverine first appeared in 1974), the museum will display some of the origins of these characters with rare first appearance comics and memorabilia.

Sci-fi fans will enjoy seeing display items from Terminator 2, Buck Rogers, Star Wars and more. Visitors will also get to see Vader’s Raiders Droid Factory display.

The exhibition will offer something for everyone, be it a lifelong fan or a newcomer to the genre, with trails and quizzes throughout the museum making this exhibition one for all the family to enjoy.

The exhibition runs until Sunday 26 January 2025.
