Today is a true celebration of everything that makes Bishop’s Stortford so special – our strong sense of community, our shared pride in our town, and the energy and creativity of the people who call it home. The Carnival Parade is always a dazzling spectacle, and I am especially excited to see this year’s vibrant display of colour, music and movement as we celebrate under the theme of ‘Summer Solstice’. It’s a wonderful sight to see so many residents and visitors lining the streets, united in joy and celebration.

After the parade, I warmly invite you to continue the festivities at Sworders Field for the Carnival Fun Day. With over a hundred stalls, global flavours, live performances, and something for all ages to enjoy, it promises to be an afternoon filled with excitement and discovery. Be sure to visit the river, where the beautifully adorned boats of the Carnival Cruise will be on display. I’m very much looking forward to awarding the prize for this year’s Best Decorated Boat.
