The Ipswich Transport Museum Open Days in August
The Ipswich Transport Museum in the Old Trolleybus Depot, Cobham Rd, Ipswich. Where almost every exhibit was either manufactured and/or used in Ipswich. And will be open in August on the dates listed below:
Sundays 7th, 14th, 21st, and 28th 11am until 4pm
Saturday 27th 11am until 4pm
Weekdays every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 1pm until 4pm
Monday 29th Ride a Fire Engine Day 11am until 4pm

Also on the “Ride a Fire Engine Day” there will be FREE rides on some of our own appliances as well as visiting machines. And you can expect lots of Bells and screaming sirens. So,this has been a very popular day in previous years so expect it to be busy.
Also, there are visual display units in several area showing videos relevant to the areas they are in.
And in the main hall we have over 100 main exhibits. Of which include many examples of vehicles most of which were locally built and/or used in Ipswich.
Ipswich Engineering The Ipswich Transport Museum
As well as all this we are home to the Ipswich Engineering collection which includes a Combine Harvester. And several other agricultural items together with a display featuring products made by Compare Reavell, Ransomes Simms & Jeffries and Crane Ltd.
Also, the walls of the main hall are awash with transport related items and advertising signs. And there are displays in side rooms covering Ipswich Airport, the Maritime history of Ipswich and the trolley bus era. And which includes the switch panel which was used to isolate sections of the trolleybus overhead wiring when work needed to be done.
And there is also a Cycle Repair Shop, a small Garage workshop featuring a motor cycle. And a motor car under repair as well as a model railway which can be operated by supervised children.
And you can go on most of our vehicles and wander through our Restoration Area. Also, where you will find our newly restored Ferguson tractor.
Tea Room The Ipswich Transport Museum
Our Tea Room will be serving light refreshments and we also have a well-stocked gift shop where you can purchase mementos of your visit.
The museum is wheelchair accessible. And we have a small children’s play area close by the Tea Room. And everything is under cover, so don’t let a bit of rain put you
