My Brother Matthew

Directed and edited by his brother Simon, “My Brother Matthew” encapsulates the indomitable spirit of human perseverance, the power of friendship and brotherly love, and the triumph of the human spirit over adversity.

Matthew Baker was born with physical disabilities that limit his mobility. Despite the many challenges he has faced throughout his life, Matthew has always possessed an unwavering determination to overcome obstacles and make a difference in the world. “My Brother Matthew” beautifully portrays his unwavering resilience and his commitment to helping others.

Through his inspiring feat, Matthew aims to raise awareness and funds for a charitable organisation focused on improving the lives of individuals with disabilities. The film showcases the numerous obstacles he encounters, both in the water and in his personal life. The film is an authentic testament to the strength of the human will and the incredible impact one person can have on the lives of many.

“We wanted to tell a story that challenges societal perceptions of disability and showcases the incredible potential within every individual, regardless of physical limitations,” said Simon. “I also wanted to show the struggles Matthew has in life as a disabled man, his limitations, frustrations and his unwavering sense of humour and optimism in the face of increasing challenges in his life.

My Brother Matthew is showing for one performance only, exclusively at South Mill Arts Theatre on September 10th at 3pm and will be followed with a Question and Answer session with Matthew and Simon
