Bishop’s Stortford Christmas Fayre – Saturday 6th December 9:30am – 4:30pm | Town Centre Get ready, Bishop’s Stortford – the most magical day of the year is just around the corner! Join us on Saturday 6th December as the town transforms into a festive wonderland for our much-loved Christmas Fayre!

From 9:30am to 4:30pm, the heart of the town will be buzzing with seasonal cheer, twinkling lights, and the scent of mulled wine and hot food filling the air. With North Street, Market Square, Potter Street, and South Street closed to traffic and fully pedestrianised, you’ll be free to wander, shop, eat, and celebrate in true Christmas spirit.

Explore an enchanting array of speciality Christmas stalls, packed with unique gifts, handmade crafts, home décor, festive treats, and artisan delights. From jewellery and candles to beauty goodies and freshly baked festive treats, you’ll find everything you need to tick off that Christmas list.

Alongside the regular Thursday and Saturday traders, the monthly Farmers’ and Craft Market will also be popping up, offering everything from local produce to handcrafted gems. It’s the perfect opportunity to support local and find something truly one-of-a-kind.

Feast on delicious street food from our amazing vendors-think gourmet hot dogs, BBQ-smoked meats, crêpes (sweet & savoury), churros, bagels, fish & chips, and more. When it’s time to warm up, grab a steaming mulled wine, indulgent boozy hot chocolate, or your favourite festive drink and toast to the season!

The town will come alive with live music, dancing, and performances from fantastic local talent outside of B&M and on Host Terrace. From joyful choirs to toe-tapping dance troupes, the day will be packed with festive cheer for all ages.

Don’t miss a magical moment with Santa at the Grotto, hosted by Intercounty Estate Agents on North Street. He’ll be spreading joy and meeting children throughout the day – don’t forget your wish list!

To make way for all the festive fun, there will be road closures in place from from 06.00 to 19.00 on North Street, Potter Street, South Street up to the junction with Station Road, High Street up to Basbow Lane and Market Square with access only available to pedestrians. Ingress and egress will therefore be limited to pedestrians and emergency vehicles only. Diversions will be in effect to divert traffic around the closed area. During the same period the ‘One Way’ system will be suspended on certain roads, allowing for vehicles to drive in both directions. This will apply to Church Street, Water Lane and Barrett Lane. Also during the same period Church Street, Apton Road, Newtown Road, Water Lane and Barrett Lane will have a weight restriction of 7.5 tons.
