Woodbridge Art Club August
A Milestone for Woodbridge Art Club
The Club has now been going for fifty-five years and 2023 is the fiftieth anniversary of us gaining possession of our club building near the Tide Mill! Club members feel it is this special home which has inspired us to flourish to the present day.
We owe a lot to the founder members who brought us here, not least to Mrs Jean Gardner, who first leased it to us in 1973. At that time the building was dilapidated and unused, but with clear potential as a hub for artistic endeavour in Woodbridge. This vision inspired skilled Club members and supporters to completely renovate the building which has been home to the Club ever since.
As ever, our summer exhibition has been extremely popular with members of the public. Many people tell us that they always call in when walking nearby and we like to think we add to people’s enjoyment of a visit to Woodbridge. We love having visitors into the exhibition and a part of the proceeds of all sales go towards upkeep of the club. This allows us to keep our annual membership subscription low and therefore accessible to more people.
Club membership is rising and there is a real buzz when we gather. There is always something going on; we have just decorated an arty anchor which will be part of a town trail later in the year. Maybe you would like to join us and be part of the next chapter in our history? To find out more, call in to the exhibition (open at weekends and bank holidays, usually 10am-5pm) or visit our recently updated website at www.woodbridgeartclub.org.uk
