Safety Concerns on Felixstowe Road (NCN1) – Community Update
The stretch of Felixstowe Road that carries National Cycle Network Route 1 (NCN1) through Martlesham is becoming increasingly unsafe for walkers and cyclists due to rising traffic levels and speeding.
A recent traffic survey recorded:
• Over 6,000 vehicle movements per day
• 85th percentile speeds of 35mph in a 30mph zone
Our Community Speed Watch volunteers continue to monitor vehicle speeds and carry out regular traffic counts. Their work plays an important role in highlighting safety issues and helping us press Suffolk County Council for meaningful improvements. If you have experienced a near miss, feel unsafe using this road, or have specific concerns, please let us know. Every report strengthens the case for action.
A huge thank you to our Speed Watch volunteers for their dedication to keeping our roads safer.

Martlesham Summer Fete – POSTPONED!
It is with deep regret that we will be unable to proceed with the Summer Fete this year. We are hoping that we will be able to bring the Fete back in 2027.
