In this edition of the Kesgrave Flyer Magazine February 2024. And we have an updates from local community groups and organisations as well as an update on upcoming events. Also don’t miss the update from sports clubs and local schools and community groups.

Kesgrave Library News

Menopause and Me Support Group – Thursday 1st February 7.00 p.m. This peer led support group will be run by staff and Jen Evans, who is a menopause advisor. All sessions will comply with both NHS and NICE guidelines; and are for anyone who is affected by the menopause and its symptoms.

During this month’s session the group are looking at and discussing: Gut Health & nutrition/food intolerances; why and how menopause changes our gut.

These sessions will offer practical advice, as well as be a chance to talk to others and get support.

Tea, coffee, and biscuits will be provided.

Stay and Play –Every Tuesday 10.00 – 11.00 a.m. Bring your little ones to our Stay & Play group for a relaxed and informal opportunity to meet other parents and carers, share experiences and chat.

Our Stay & Play groups are a chance for parents to socialise and give their babies and young children a fun, interactive play session that engages their senses and helps their development. These sessions are suitable for under 5s.

This event is part of our Me Myself and Baby perinatal support service. The aim of the project is to help reduce isolation and improve emotional wellbeing for new parents.

Kesgrave Library News

Sunday Crafts 10.00 – 12.00 noon – during February we will be making the following crafts:

Sunday 11th – To celebrate Chinese New Year, we are creating paper plate dragon twirlers.

Sunday 18th – Do you have a favourite pet? Design a lolly stick cat in a jumper. What colour jumper will you create?

Sunday 25th – This week we are making a pair of mittens. What patterns will you draw?

Activities are free. Parents must stay with under eights.

Word Play Sessions – Every Thursday Morning. These free sessions are run by trained staff.

 

Tot Rock – 9.45 – 10.15 a.m. – active songs and rhymes for pre-school children.

Baby Bounce – 10.45 – 11.15 a.m. – Gentle songs for you and your baby to enjoy.

No need to book. Please just pop along. We look forward to seeing you soon.

Story Time –Fridays 9.45 – 10.15 a.m. Fun stories, rhymes, and songs – this is a free activity. We hope to see you soon.

Lego Club –every Tuesday 3.30 – 4.30 p.m. Free play with each child given a basket of Lego bricks to create designs of their choice. We hope to see you soon.

 

Morning Book Group – Tuesday 10.00 a.m. 6th February at the library. The group are discussing A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini.

 

Afternoon Book Club – This group’s next meeting is Thursday 1st February at 2.45 p.m. where they will be discussing Still Life by Sarah Winman.

Evening Book Group – Thursday 29th February 7.00 – 8.00 p.m. The group are currently reading The Whalebone Theatre by Joanna Quinn.

If you are interested in joining, please contact library staff. The library supplies copies of the titles being read.

Knit and Natter – From 2.30 p.m. This month the sessions are on Thursday 8th and 22nd February. You don’t need to be able to knit to attend – just pop along for a natter.

Tea/coffee and biscuits are provided.

Warm Space – Kesgrave Library is a designated warm space throughout the winter, offering hot drinks and a safe, welcoming area to pop along to and spend some time in.

Kindness Rail – We have a kindness rail available with coats, hats, scarves etc. for customers to come in and help themselves to.

If you are having a sort out and have any good quality outdoor clothes whether adults or children’s, please pop them along to the library. Thank you.

Recycle Your Ink Cartridges – Did you know that Kesgrave Library is a drop off point for printer ink cartridges, whether used or out of date (apart from laser printer cartridges). Every donation of a used cartridge helps the library to raise funds.

Printing and Photocopying – You can print and photocopy at your local library. We can print A4 colour and black and white, as well as photocopy in A4 and A3.

We are also able to scan to email and enlarge and reduce documents.

Home Library Service – If you would like to access the library but are unable to visit us, Kesgrave runs three home library routes, where volunteers come out with a selection of books to your homes. To access this service, whether you are house bound, recovering from an operation, receiving treatment for an illness, or enquiring for a relative/friend or someone you care for, please ring the library 01473 626103 or log onto the Suffolk Libraries website and complete the online form.
