The Ipswich Flyer Magazine March ’24 Updates
In January we had an excellent presentation from Stuart Durrell, and we heard about the work of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission. It was really impressive to see how that many thousands of war graves were maintained in so many locations around the world. Many of our members had visited the major sites in Flanders and France, and commented on how overwhelming it was to see the sheer number of gravestones lined neatly and kept in pristine condition. The club made a donation of over £100 to the work of the Commission.
During 2024 we shall continue our regular lunch meetings on the last Wednesday of each month in the pleasant surroundings of the Masonic Club in Soane Street. We have a three course lunch followed by coffee. In March we have our Annual General Meeting, and I hope by then to welcome my successor after three years in post.
Ipswich and District Probus Club
We assemble in the bar at midday for a pre- luncheon drink, and conversation. Lunch costs are very reasonable at £27 which includes a chance to win something in our monthly raffle, and the annual subscription only £25. You will be made very welcome and we are a friendly group of men from all walks of life. On the second Wednesday of each month some of us meet at the Westerfield Swan 11am for a coffee and conversation. Come along and get to meet us there in less formal surroundings
