The Bishop’s Stortford  Christmas Fayre Programme 2023

Bishop’s Stortford Christmas Fayre

This year’s Bishop’s Stortford Christmas Fayre, supported by Lit Fibre, takes place on Saturday 2nd December. The festivities will begin at 9.30am and continue until 4.30pm. Road closures will be in place with the Fayre stretching across North Street, Market Square, Potter Street, and South Street, all of which will be pedestrianised.

Bishop’s Stortford Christmas Fayre Stalls

Specialty Christmas stalls offering festive items, handcrafted gifts and homeware, food, and drinks will complement the regular traders from the Thursday and
Saturday Market, as well as the monthly Farmer’s and Craft Market, making the Christmas Fayre an event not to miss!

Don’t miss out on the opportunity to tick off your Christmas shopping list. You will be able to explore an exciting array of unique and interesting stalls, selling jewellery, candles, health and beauty products, artisan alcohol, handcrafted gifts, Christmas decorations and much more! Hungry shoppers will be able to keep the cold at bay with delicious, sweet, and savoury, warming delights from the hot food vendors, from traditional German sausages to Mexican treats, to freshly cooked Malaysian street food. Plus, favourites such as brick lane bagels, crêpes, and woodfire pizzas! You can also enjoy a festive beverage, or two,
between browsing the stalls, celebrating the yule tide with a hot mulled wine, boozy hot chocolate and more.

Bishop’s Stortford Christmas Fayre Entertainment

Throughout the town centre there will be a plethora of festive entertainment for the whole family, spreading yuletide joy over the course of the day. Enjoy live
music and dancing from local performance groups, celebrating the brilliant community talent Bishop’s Stortford has to offer. Santa will be paying a special visit to the magical grotto at Intercounty Estate Agents on North Street, spreading Christmas spirit to all.

Road Closures

The Fayre is a major event throughout the Town Centre and it would not be possible without road closures. Road closures will be in force on 2nd December from 06.00 to 19.00 on North Street, Potter Street, South Street up to the junction with Station Road, High Street up to Basbow Lane and Market Square with access only available to pedestrians. Ingress and egress will therefore be limited to pedestrians and emergency vehicles only. Apton Road will be available to vehicles for access only. Diversions will be in effect to divert traffic around the closed area. During the same period the ‘One Way’ system will be suspended on certain roads, allowing for vehicles to drive in both directions. This will apply to Church Street, Water Lane and Barrett Lane. Also during the same period Church Street, Apton Road, Newtown Road, Water Lane and Barrett Lane will have a weight restriction of 7.5 tons. Diversions will be in effect to divert traffic around the closed area.
