High Wych Scarecrow Festival 2019
SATURDAY 7TH SEPTEMBER
SUNDAY 8TH SEPTEMBER
There are only a few months to go and the 4th High Wych Scarecrow Festival will be upon us. By now the principle of it all should be clear: Over a late summer weekend anyone can make a scarecrow to place either in the High Wych Road or in High Wych Lane up to The Manor of Groves. You don’t even have to live in these roads to make one! Once again we hope for inventiveness artistry and fun to be on show. If you want guidance contact the organisers, see below.
As on earlier occasions there will be a theme to this year’s festival. This year the theme is ‘bicycles’. A preparatory meeting was held on Saturday 22nd June in the weekend when communities got together in memory of the murdered MP Jo Cox, in 2016 and do something positive.
Bigger bikes were sprayed and smaller ones made out of cardboard. There will be at least 100 small bicycles that our school will use to decorate the school/park railings.
As before the centre of the action will be the churchyard around St. James’s Church. There will be food stalls, games, stalls from local organisations and of course more scarecrows. An information leaflet will be distributed around the area and there will be information on the HW facebook page and website. For those who want to contact the organisers, Janet Bellingham, the main organiser can be phoned on 01279 724247 or Kate Clark can be contacted if you want to book a stall on behalf of your organisation.
