A Level and GCSE results
Great results, new beginnings …
As August drew to a close, hundreds of Herts & Essex students waited anxiously to see if the hard work they put in earlier in the year was reflected in their A Level and GCSE results. And for the vast majority their efforts paid off as 2015 saw the best results ever for the school. At A Level 71% of entries achieved grade A* – B and 92% achieved 5+ A* – C at GCSE level, impressively seeing the school ranked as the third most successful comprehensive in the country (Daily Telegraph).
The results are testament to the commitment, enthusiasm and drive of both students and staff alike enabling each individual to strive to obtain the best possible outcome. It was no wonder there were so many cheers, smiles and tears of joy on both results’ days, not least because for all Year 11 and Year 13 students the results are stepping stones to new and challenging experiences. For the Year 11 students their results determined the next stage of their educational journey, be it A Levels at Sixth Form or more vocational courses at college; whilst for the Year 13 students the doors opened onto the exciting world of university, apprenticeships or employment. In 2015 a fantastic 99% of students went on to their university of choice.
And so with the 2015 Year 13 cohort leaving the school, a new Sixth Form comes into being. Of a staggering 450 applications for Year 12, just short of 200 were successful, combining to create a strong and vibrant Sixth Form. The majority of Year 11 Herts & Essex students chose to continue their education in the school’s Sixth Form recognising that the superb combination of outstanding teaching and excellent pastoral support is the best way for them to realise the school motto and ‘reach for the stars.’
