Mick Meras – following extensive Research – presents:
“World War 2 North Sea, Air Sea Rescue”
In which Amphibious “Walrus” landed on the water and rescued downed flyers and sailors, supported by “Lysander” aircraft who searched for survivors, and specially modified “Spitfires” who also spotted and protected the “Walrus” ,… with something like 1000 being rescued by Aircraft based at Martlesham Heath. This story of skill and heroism (well before the development of Helicopters and modern navigational aids) is well worth hearing – a story that has never been properly told before!
Pay on the door on arrival. No need to prebook – just turn up in good time. £3 for members – £4 for non-members – why not join the Society when you are there…
