Martlesham Heath Aviation Society monthly meeting
“The Battle of Barking Creek” – took place on 6th September 1939, 3 days after the declaration of war. Some of the action took place over Suffolk.
It was a tragic mistake that caused the death of one RAF pilot, and injured another.
However it caused the R.A.F. to change its operational procedures, and which helped the RAF win the Battle of Britain the following year.
