On 28 April 1944, in fading evening light at RAF Tempsford Airfield, a Special Operations Executive (SOE) airfield, two Norwegians made final preparations. Shortly after, Flight Lieutenant Ashley eased his Handley Page Halifax into the night sky, steering N. N. East.

London’s ‘birds of prey’ were on the way………….
