‘Deck the halls with boughs of holly, tra, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la…’ yes that’s right, we are getting into the festive
spirit here at the charity and we hope you are too. Christmas is a wonderful time to spend with family and loved
ones and we are all very fortunate we get to do so. For some however, they are unfortunately still too ill to go
home and have to spend the festive period in hospital.
We want to give patients staying and visiting the hospital over Christmas a merry WiSHmas. We want to
deliver presents to EVERY ward and department across West Suffolk Hospital and Newmarket Community
Hospital, to spread some Christmas cheer at a difficult time. This is where we need your help. If you can spare
a present this year for us to give to a patient please get in touch. We have a list going to give you an idea of items
our staff have asked for which they feel will benefit their patients, so do get in touch if you would like some
Christmas jumper day is back! We are asking you to get your best, (or worst) festive knit on and donate just £1 to
our WiSH Upon a Star appeal. This appeal supports children across the West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust,
so any area that cares for our young patients can benefit. This includes, but not all; the emergency department, paediatric diabetes, the eye clinic, neonatal, any outpatient services and The Rainbow Children’s Ward. We have posters, buckets and tins we can give you to help with your Christmas Jumper Day so if you think your work place or school would like to get involved please get in touch.
Let’s get together and make this Christmas one to remember.
