Local author’s book is through to the finals!
Local author Rachel Churcher is celebrating after reaching the finals of the Wishing Shelf Book Awards with her first novel, ‘Battle Ground’. Launched in July last year, ‘Battle Ground’ is a near-future Young Adult dystopia set in the totalitarian UK, after Brexit and Scottish Independence. The five-book Battle Ground series features two strong female leads, and asks what you would do if your government turned against you – and what if you had the chance to fight back? “This award is very important to me,” says Rachel. “It is voted on by teenage readers in my target audience, and I’m so pleased they connected with my characters and setting. Brexit, and the future of the UK, are such important subjects for young people today. I hope my books inspire readers to make a difference and to shape the world they want to live in.”
The winners of this year’s awards will be announced in April. Readers looking for a free introduction to the Battle Ground Series can download ‘Making Trouble’, a free prequel novella. Available now, ‘Making Trouble’ is available for ebook readers or as a PDF, from freebook. tallerbooks.com. All five novels in the series are available now on Amazon, in paperback and Kindle editions. The series is suitable for readers from 13 to 103. Rachel Churcher lives in Bury St Edmunds.
