DESCRIPTION:Ipswich Minster is to host a special concert at Ipswich Corn Exchange to to celebrate the 825th Anniversary of the Ipswich Charter being granted by King John.\nThe wide programme will include the masterpieces Handel’s Hallelujah Chorus and Beethoven’s 9th along with the World Première of Matthew Heyburn’s festival commission, The Gipping Weaves.\n \nThe concert features performances from all kinds of choirs and musicians from across the town. Audiences can look forward to rousing choral classics and contemporary music performances, by the choir of Ipswich Minster, Ipswich Minster Chamber Choir, Ipswich Choral Society, a choir of Ipswich children, Funky Voices, a Ukrainian duet, and professional soloists.\nCharter825 is an Ipswich-wide festival that will span the whole of 2025, bringing together communities, charities, faith groups, civic institutions, and businesses across the town. It commemorates the 825th year of King John’s representatives presenting its charter to the citizens of Ipswich, gathered in the churchyard of St Mary le Tower (now Ipswich Minster). The festival includes historical walks, talks, an exhibition of art and poetry, a trip on the river, and various other events.\n
