Three staff suspended by school named

All three of the staff suspended at a troubled Felixstowe high school today have been named.
It has already been revealed that headteacher Peter Tomkins, 43, and director of corporate services Jackie Spillane, 39, have been suspended from their posts while an investigation takes places into allegations made against them.

A Special Fairtrade Fortnight for Felixstowe

Fairtrade fortnight (22 Feb to 7 March) will be special for supporters of the movement in Felixstowe this year as they celebrate the awarding of Fairtrade Town Status to the town. The announcement was made at the end of last year but this will be the first real opportunity for people to come together to mark the achievement.

Minor works are being carried out to repair lanterns and lighting columns in the Felixstowe Seafront Gardens. Weather permitting the maintenance work should be completed by the 24th Jan and will keep the Seafront Gardens at their shining best for residents and visitors to enjoy.
High value jobs and high value skills for a 21st century Suffolk

Recent economic events have again shown the need to diversify Felixstowe’s employment base to provide more high value jobs in areas beyond traditional logistics and shipping. The Audit Commission’s recent Area Assessment of Suffolk indicated as such when it highlighted the paucity of high value jobs across the county as a whole.

Reprieve for Trimley Train Station

Following a meeting with Network Rail on Tuesday 15th December between myself (Robert Scrimgeour Suffolk Coastal), Bryan Frost (Chairman, Trimley St Mary Parish Council) and Ian Dungavell (Director, The Victorian Society), a decision about the demolition of Trimley station building has been deferred until the beginning of April 2010.
