Bury Fringe Make ‘Being Green’ Entertaining

August 9, 2011 by · Leave a Comment

Bury St Edmunds is set to get it’s own quota of caped crusaders when the Bury Fringe launches it’s first ‘Soaper Heroes’ event this Saturday 6th August. Frustrated by the amount of litter being left in streets, verges and various sites around the town, the Bury Fringe is encouraging people of all ages to meet in Charter Square in the Arc at 10am to take part in their ‘comedy litter pick’ to clean up the town. Dress up as a superhero or just in your favourite costume, and come along and join in, in an eye catching environmental action event. There are various ‘litter hotspots’ already identified around the town which the teams will be tackling, with all equipment provided, and Bury St Edmunds residents, workers and vistors can submit their own suggestions of problem areas via www.soaperheroes.co.uk. With support from St Edmundsbury Borough Council, and ASDA, Chortle Factory comedy night and Radio West Suffolk FM to name just a few local bodies, businesses and groups backing the scheme, the Fringe team intends Saturday to be the first of what will become regular events, clearing and cleaning around the town with a view to making it as attractive as possible for everyone who lives, works and visits here.
