83 YEAR OLD VOLUNTEER RETIRES AFTER 29 YEARS WORKING WITH OLDER PEOPLE

A local charity recently said goodbye to one of its 700 volunteers. Alma Bartley has volunteered at Age UK Suffolk`s New Horizons Day Centre in Woodbridge for the last 9 years. Prior to this Alma, who is 83 years old, had volunteered for Age Concern in Sussex for 20 years. In her time at the New Horizons centre, Alma has undertaken an enormous amount of work which includes stocking and running the ‘mini-shop’ trolley, which involves numerous trips to the supermarket, putting on the cake stall at fundraising events and many activities with the people that attend the day centre.
