Romantic setting for “I Love Ipswich Parks” week

February 14, 2011 by · Leave a Comment

WLTM … attractive, very open, likes variety, offers pretty walks, playing, bird watching and wildlife etc. For friendship first, maybe more.

That’s the message to local people from the “I Love Ipswich Parks” campaign being launched on Valentine’s Day by the Borough Council.

The Council is running a series of events through next week to highlight how attractive and important our parks are.

Councillor Inga Lockington, Environment portfolio-holder, said: “Our parks are so important to the town and offer such a rich variety – tranquil walks, bustling play areas, entertainment, wildlife and benches for a chat or to read a book in the sun. We are blessed with many parks, large and small, and this campaign is to underline that love affair we have – or should have – with them. I hope people will look at our parks in a new light and make more use of them in the future. I think it is fitting to be launching it on Valentine’s Day, when all our thoughts turn to love.”

Events included in the “I Love Ipswich Parks” week include:

Monday 14th: I Love safe parks – launch of the new-look Parks Patrol service in Chantry Park at 1.30pm (Play Area). Come and meet the new team.

Tuesday 15th: I Love Wildlife Walks (Christchurch Park, 12.30pm) – join a Wildlife Ranger for a wander at lunchtime to see some of the wildlife that resides in the heart of town. Meet at the Reg Driver Visitor Centre for this one-hour amble.
