Gandalf spreads equality message

Sir Ian McKellen paid a visit to a top Suffolk school to talk about issues of equality and bullying. Students at Farlingaye High School, in Woodbridge, enjoyed a real treat when the top RSC actor, most famous for his role as Gandalf in the hit movie franchise Lord of the Rings, visited on the afternoon of Friday November 27.

Bid4Bury is a success

Businesses in Bury St Edmunds have voted in favour of taking their future into their own hands by setting up a Business Improvement District in the town centre. All businesses with a rateable value of more than £10,000 had the opportunity to vote on whether to support Bid4Bury. The postal ballot closed on Monday 30 November and the count was held in the Corn Exchange, Bury. The Bid4Bury campaign saw 59% of those taking part in the ballot voting in favour of setting up the BID.

Reprieve for Trimley Train Station

Following a meeting with Network Rail on Tuesday 15th December between myself (Robert Scrimgeour Suffolk Coastal), Bryan Frost (Chairman, Trimley St Mary Parish Council) and Ian Dungavell (Director, The Victorian Society), a decision about the demolition of Trimley station building has been deferred until the beginning of April 2010.
